Lake Anna State Park

Lake Anna

Lake Anna is a popular state park featuring a large lake, sandy beach area, wooded paths, camping sites, and cabins. There is a plethora of activities to engage people of all ages including sunbathing, swimming, fishing, hiking, and boating. There is even a hidden cemetery on the park grounds.

It takes about an hour to drive from Richmond, up 95 and off on curvy backroads.

The visitor center contains exhibits that trace the history of the area’s gold mining and highlight the park’s natural features. Nature and gold panning programs are popular, and the park offers guided tours of the Goodwin Gold Mine. Unfortunately, these are temporarily closed during the pandemic.
