Local Doorways:
My wanderings down Caroline Street took me away from historic downtown toward the neighboring locals’ houses. I was struck by the well-tended gardens, even in the smallest of yards. Bright flowers blossomed and lit up with the sun. Colorful wreaths adorned many of the doors, which only complemented their colorful exteriors.
Some houses kept to the fall theme with pumpkins, skeletons and bats, and yellow, red, and orange foliage. Others kept it simple with trimmed bushes and potted flower arrangements.
The structural arrangements and lovely detailing truly made me fall in love with these doorways and the houses themselves. I fantasized about what it could be like to live here and just stroll downtown for a coffee or enjoy a bite to eat. Who lives here and what’s life like for them? Perhaps there is a little Main Street like this in my future. Or it might just be a dream.
I slowly meandered back down the street toward society and shopping, lost in my thoughts in the quiet neighborhood atmosphere.
